Ode to a Rug
Sometimes you see that one piece, one lamp, one accessory that inspires you and suddenly the room just comes together around that one thing. It's like once you've found your piece of inspiration, the room seems to design itself. I stumbled on this beauty and was struck with awe and wonder. I swear I almost shed a tear.
Couldn't I just buy a house to design around this rug?? Will have to work on my husband on that one. Although it wouldn't be my most outlandish request.
Can't you just see it down the hallway of a beautiful townhouse in New York or even a very white and clean modern vibe? I just love everything about it. The deep purples, the tinges of browns and golds. It's rich and also mysterious. And would most likely disguise doggy paw prints. Bonus.
Here are some things that started to flow from this beautiful rug.
I can see a gallery wall filled with eclectic artwork, simple line drawings and sketches in a mixture of different types of frames, with some brass/gold tone frames mixed in.
And a few of these sconces will be perfect over the artwork. We'll assume the wall is prepped and ready for electrical. I love these clients!
And since I'm designing this for no one I'm getting my console table from Currey & Co. This one will be perfect.
Nothing wrong with a navy glass table lamp. One of these (because it's oversized) for the table top.
And because I have to do something a bit off at all times, I'll wallpaper the ceiling in this beautiful Thibaut wall covering.
And for the paint color, a simple fresh neutral from Jeff Lewis Color.
Now, for the accessories. We can go a little crazy here. This basket underneath the elegant console table.
And a cute stack of art books with these lovely gold bursts on the table top.
And there we have it. Our rich, mysterious and decadent space, all because of that gorgeous rug...
