Inspired by the Sea

Nature always knows more than we do. There's no better inspiration for color, texture and style than natural elements. After my visit to the Cayman Islands, I can't get over the Cayman hues of blue....sparkling, iridescent turquoise, aqua, deep blue, and every shade in between, contrasted with the bright white sand. And the texture of the rippled ocean floor...it's a dream. Forget my bumbling words. Just look.

I often fantasize about designing my beach house (which I will....some day). I like the idea of keeping the style completely informed by the beach....rattan, sisal, clean whites, pops of sunset hues, big green palm arrangements, washed out linens that looks like they've been dried by the sun.

This would be my mood board for my dream beach house:

Love the rattan, washed out white wood walls, woven wood blinds, and large tropical arrangement.

And here are my favorite beach essentials.

Mineral Fushion SPF 30 brush on sunscreen

I take my sunscreen very seriously, since I have already had one basal cell carcinoma at the age of 36 (fun). But at the same time, I LOVE the sun and will not sit inside. I have gotten really diligent with my sunscreen. I keep this on me at all times because you can brush it on right over makeup and kids love it because it requires no rubbing and no mess.

Cabana Life Rash GuardYes, I wear these. All the time. It's easier than constantly reapplying sunscreen and I've gotten used to the look. Now I love them and wouldn't go to the beach without one.

NUXE Huile Prodigieuse Multi-Purpose Dry Oil

This oil is magic. And it smells divine. I use it for after sun on body and face and also to scrunch into hair for beachy waves.

<< 4 >>

Canvas beach toteI've been through every kind of beach bag. I just like a simple canvas tote that I can throw in the wash later. It's lightweight and easy.

Rosewater Toner

Add this to a spray bottle and use to for face, hair, body. Cools off and refreshes. Addictive. I go through a bottle a month.

Straw beach hatA must. I cover my face at all times. I like these that you can just squish up and put in your bag. Even when they're all wet and sandy, they still hold their shape.

Earth Tu Face Balm

I'm addicted to lip balms. This one is great.

That's my round up for today. Inspired by the sea.
